Who We Are and What We Do
We are major dealers in fine and rare antique maps and atlases, specializing in original printed material dating from 1475 to the late 18th century ( as well as a few 19th century maps and atlases printed in North America).
We carry one of the largest stocks of antique maps, covering all geographic areas, cartographic styles, and time periods. We focus particularly on maps of the World, America and the Holy Land, although we also have excellent stocks of Asian, African and European maps.
Our clients range from the most serious collectors of musuem-quality maps, to major institutional map collections, to casual collectors or those who want decorative items, and to beginning collectors who have just discovered this fascinating field. We are always more than happy to discuss collecting interests, and any aspects of old maps, geographic discoveries and their cartographic record. We are particularly pleased to discuss antique maps and map collecting with new or potential collectors and can offer guidance to collecting, reference books and other sources of information. We occasionally ( very occasionally) issue catalogues. More often, we prepare individual quotes for our clients based on their collecting interests.
We exhibit at all the major Map and Antiquarian Book Fairs each year, including Miami (February), California (February), Washington (Concord Hill Fair in early March), New York (April), London (June) and Boston (November).
We are most pleased to see familiar or new collectors at any of these venues. They provide an excellent way to actually see and handle our maps ( and those of other dealers who may also be exhibiting) and therefore provide a wonderful opportunity for collectors, especially beginning collectors, to come into contact with an astounding variety of antique maps at one single location and to be able to discuss any issues relating to old maps and map collecting. We encourage you to visit these fairs. If you are on our mailing list, we will automatically send you announcements of fairs in your geographical area.
